The Afterglow - Show #12 (Christmas Edition)

Happy Holidays! Welcome to show #12 of The Afterglow. This time our cool vibes and classic beats include some wonderful Christmas music as well. As you enjoy this show, I hope you will take a moment to reflect on the REAL reason for the season – the birth of our savior.
 
Phase 1 features music from the Pleasant Groove Minstrels, Leah Smith, Eric Kupper and Jihad Muhammad – among others. Our DJ mix starts with chilled club vibes and flows into some wonderful house tunes. Phase 3 features some of my favorite Christmas tunes including a special appearance from the one and only Daffy Duck! J We close out with some wonderful chilled vibes featuring tracks from Sherree Brown, Richard Earnshaw and J. Boogie’s Dubtonic Science.

The Afterglow - Show #10

Happy Thanksgiving and welcome to show #10!!  Lots of good music in store 4 U as always. Highlights of the show include tracks from DJ Day, RJD2, 4hero, Shur-I-Can, Christian Prommer’s Drumlesson, Gotan Project, Butterfinger, The Foreign Exchange, Nigel Hayes, Osunlade and Azymuth (to name a few).  This show will also mark the 1st time that I play one of my original tunes. Phase 3 begins with “Bajoran Sunrize” from The Afterglow EP by King Midas. This is the project that inspired this show. It’s available in all of the major digital outlets so, by all means, check it out the next time you’re shopping. (Note: I discovered that there was a band that had been using the King Midas moniker for quite a few years so my other downtempo & dance releases are under the name The King Midas Project.)

The Afterglow - Show #9

Greetings!  Welcome to show #9.  I apologize for the extended delay between shows. 2 events prevented me from posting this sooner: 1. The unexpected death of my father-in-law (and all of the things that we had to take care of), 2. My computer was infected with a VERY nasty virus which wiped out many of my files – including all of my playlists (ouch!). Thankfully my music was on a separate drive J. If you haven’t backed up your files lately, I urge you to do so now.
 
Unfortunately, I cannot even post a playlist for this show right now.  Perhaps at a later date I will be able to put it together. In the meantime, download and enjoy. Things should be back to normal for show #10.

The Afterglow - Show #6

Welcome to show # 6 of The Afterglow! More cool vibes and classic beats for you to enjoy. Highlights of the show include the stellar work of Jazzanova on their remix of the Status IV classic, "You Ain't Really Down". It's mostly a dub version with samples from the end of the a capella. I took the liberty of mixing in the verses and the chorus from the a capella version that I have. I hope they don't mind me adding my two cents to their work :-)  Another remix from my favorite jazz band - The Jazzinvaders - concludes phase 1. The DJ mix consists of downtempo breaks flowing into some chilled house tunes and is a bit longer than usual this time out (63 min.). I guess I was just feelin' it, plus it includes several tracks that I have been wanting to find room to play on the show. Highlights in the mix include classic beats from Mr. Gone, dZihan and Kamien, Mr. Scruff and Down To The Bone. And finally, phase 3 is highlighted by soulful tunes from Gaelle and Tamia.
